Wamaitha Karanja or Wamz as she’s fondly referred to is a desmoid tumor warrior; a journey she has walked for over 5 years, since initial diagnosis.

Wamaitha is the Head of Recruitment at Altima Africa, where she leads the Executive Recruitment & Selection division. She has over 10 years’ experience leading executive search and selection teams. She’s a passionate, results oriented recruiter.

Wamz is also the local Inspirational Ambassador for Pathway International, a global medical solutions firm. She uses this platform to speak at forums to raise awareness on Desmoid Tumours, Rare Diseases and Cancers. When she is not at speaking engagements, Wamz volunteers at Sisters Arise Project, an NGO which focuses on Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) living with their grandmothers in two slums along the outskirts of Nairobi, namely: Githogoro and Huruma Slums, while partnering with the nearby Cheleta and Kasarini primary schools.

She is also the Founder of Kikapu Kipya, an initiative concerned with creating opportunities for young girls and women to receive mentorship and life skill towards
achieving their personal best at all levels of their lives and careers.

The mother to a pre-teen daughter she will be sharing her experiences with the aim of raising awareness towards early detection, while offering hope after diagnosis andsupport during treatment.

See you this week as we hear more from Wamz.
